Tearoom visit

I'm know for my love of tearooms. So every chance I get I will visit a tearoom to sample cakes and a cuppa.
So when I visited my daughter recently I jumped at her offer to take me to lunch. She wanted to take me to a tearoom she had recently been too. We visited Shipleys Curiositeas
https://www.facebook.com/shipleyscuriositeas?ref=ts&fref=ts in the lovely market town of Brigg in North Lincolnshire. I loved it the moment we went inside, lots of delicious cakes on display. After browsing the menu we opted for the afternoon tea.

The waitress was more than happy to swap one of the meat selection for a tuna sandwich as my daughter doesn't eat meat. And they earnt brownie points from me because they had both plain and fruit scones. As most of my close friends and family will tell you, something I'm always complaining about is the lack of places that provide plains scones. Cream teas with fruit scones and strawberry jam just do not go together in my opinion. I dislike dried fruit, but I still don't get fruit scones and strawberry jam. Is it just me? In Devon cream teas are always served with plain scones, and I think they have got it spot on.

We chose lemon tea to accompany our afternoon tea. Very nice it was too. When our cake stand was brought to the table we had admiring looks from the other customers on the next table, I can understand why. It looked fabulous.

The sandwiches where among the best I've had in an afternoon tea, tasty and delicate. I would definitely recommend a visit to Shipley's Curiositeas.
